Snips from Oct. 23, 2009 article
Oct. 20, 2009: France will begin vaccinating key medical workers against swine flu on Tuesday
Norway and Switzerland have about twice as much vaccine as they need.
(old news) U.S. has contracted with vaccine makers to produce and distribute up to 100 million doses, with the ability to produce 150 million more should the need arise this flu season. Oct 21 Cidrap: The government has ordered a total of about 250 million doses of H1N1 vaccine from five manufacturers. The expectation is that vaccine deliveries will be completed in December.

1,000 Mexicans lined up for an experimental vaccine they hope can speed up supplies.
Sanofi Pasteur, a division of Sanofi-Aventis, has guaranteed to send 1 million doses by the end of November, 4 million more doses by the end of December and 15 million by the end of January, Cordova said. Sanofi Pasteur officials reached the agreement with Mexico's president in a meeting Thursday morning. 10 million additional doses will be manufactured by London-based GlaxoSmithKline, Cordova said.

Canada:
Aug. 6: In Canada, pandemic vaccine production is on target, Butler-Jones said, with clinical trials set to begin in late September. People could start receiving shots in November, if not sooner, he said. Manufacturers initially said they were finding low yields in making vaccines for the H1N1 pandemic strain of the virus, but that it is now improving. "We are on track in development," Marie-Paule Kieny, WHO director of the Initiative for Vaccine Research, told a news conference in Geneva.

Oct 27 (Branswell), Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq signed an interim order that will allow 200,000 doses of adjuvant-free vaccine from CSL Ltd. to be used in this country.... should be available starting next week. Most of Canada's 50.4 million doses of H1N1 vaccine will contain an adjuvant. An order for unadjuvanted vaccine was placed after the main order.
Canadians from coast to coast rolled up their sleeves Monday as the country's provinces and territories began vaccinations for the H1N1 virus. In Winnipeg, more than 3,300 patients were immunized at 12 mass clinics and thousands of nurses, doctors and medical specialists took a shot in the arm in New Brunswick to protect themselves from the pandemic virus.
CSL doesn't have a licence to sell flu vaccine in Canada but the product is licensed in Australia and the United States.

From an updated article: GlaxoSmithKline said Tuesday that since early August it has received a further 22 government orders to supply around 149 million doses of H1N1 flu vaccine. Those orders bring the total number of doses ordered to 440 million (worth some $3.5 billion) and the group said discussions are continuing with governments for further supplies. The first supplies of the vaccine will be shipped during the week commencing Oct. 5. _________________ https://twitter.com/mixin1771 |
